Experienced freelance translator
My name is Rebekah Wilson and I am a highly experienced freelance translator based in Oxford, UK. I offer high quality translations from French, German, Dutch and Flemish into English.
I provide professional translation services to a wide range of satisfied clients from around Europe and throughout the world. I am a qualified translator and member of the ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) (MITI).
Professional translation experience
I have been working as a professional translator since 1996. Between 1996 and 2002, I worked as an in-house translator for Reuters in London, where I translated a huge variety of business, commercial and financial news articles. Since becoming a freelance translator in 2004, I have completed numerous translation projects, translating materials from many subject areas for clients both large and small. I have an MA in Literary Translation from UEA, a BA (Hons) in French and German from Birmingham University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Translating from Salford University. I am also a member of the Society of Authors and The Translators’ Association.
ITI qualified translator
As a member of the ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting) (MITI), I am qualified to provide official certified translations on request. I have passed the ITI examination in all three of my language combinations, despite ITI membership only requiring a pass in one language combination.
Winner of the 2009-2011 ITI John Hayes Award
In 2011, I was awarded the 2009-2011 John Hayes Award for outstanding performance in the Institute’s Qualified Member entrance examination. Passing the MITI entry examination is highly regarded as a milestone for many translators, but every year or so, the person who produces the best translation is awarded the John Hayes Award for excellence in translation.
